Our Shop and Farm

Our Story

Farming is in our blood. Nestled between Tenterden and Biddenden in the heart of the Weald of Kent, our family has been working this land for three generations, with the fourth now stomping around the fields causing havoc; we don't plan on stopping any time soon.

In 2014, we decided to take everything we'd learned from a lifetime on the farm and venture into butchery. It felt like a natural step. As farmers, we've always understood meat from field to plate, so why not take control of the whole journey? John personally selects our beef, game and lamb, sourcing direct from local farms he knows and trusts. Not ensuring every cut meets the standard we'd be proud to put our name to, but also supporting our local farming economy.

We only sell meat from British producers. That's not a marketing line; it's a commitment rooted in where we come from and what we believe in.

Our experienced team of butchers prepare everything from scratch, breaking down from carcass and making our sausages and burgers by hand using traditional recipes passed down through the years. It's proper butchery, done the right way.

New Romney Butchers

With many years of hands-on experience, David and his team are passionate about nose-to-tail butchery, making the most of every cut and wasting nothing. Every order is prepared fresh, the way it should be, using good old-fashioned butchery values that have served the local community for years. Alongside the butchery counter, our New Romney shop is home to a well-stocked deli and a delicious range of rotisserie chicken and cooked pies, all made with the same care and craft.

Lotland Farm – John Howe Turkeys

Our story began in 1956 when our family first put down roots in the Biddenden countryside. For many years the family reared sheep and pigs, but it was in 1976 that we discovered our true calling, turkey farming. Starting with just 25 birds that first year, we had no idea we were beginning a legacy that would span five decades and keeps the whole family very busy.

What began as a modest venture has grown into a cherished tradition. Year after year, we've refined our craft across all our farming operations, learning from the land and our animals, always committed to raising the finest free-range turkeys and gees.

Now, as we mark 2026, we're celebrating a remarkable milestone: 50 golden years of turkey production. Four generations of our family have walked these fields, tending to our diverse herds and flocks. We're as proud today as we were on day one. Every bird and animal we raise carries forward the values that have defined us since 1956 — quality, care, and a deep respect for the farming tradition.
